Brazil
State of Roraima in northern Brazil
Why did we choose Roraima?
- It is the Brazilian State with largest proportion of indigenous population & lands in Brazil (46%)
- There is a critical need to protect and defend lands recently secured by indigenous groups
- We have long term partnerships with indigenous organizations working in the region
- There is a precedent-setting legal case in progress
Indigenous groups are implementing projects that could potentially serve as models for leadership training, organization-building, and environmental monitoring.
Current Projects:

Providing legal and advocacy support for indigenous communities in Raposa Serra do Sol, northern Brazil.
